Physicals are comprehensive preventive exams that assess your overall health and well-being. They aim to evaluate your health status and identify potential health risks or conditions. After evaluating your health, Toni at Zorumske Family Practice can make recommendations to protect and improve your well-being.
During a physical, Toni conducts a thorough exam to establish a baseline of your current health status, enabling her to assess your overall well-being and identify any potential health risks or concerns. There are three main parts:
The first step in any physical is recording your height, weight, and vitals (temperature, respiration rate, and blood pressure).
Next, Toni reviews and updates your medical history. Make sure to talk to her about any new symptoms, health concerns, or medication changes. She also asks questions about your diet and lifestyle to create a complete picture of your health status.
After the medical history portion, Toni assesses your physical health. She uses a special light to look inside your ears, nose, eyes, and throat before listening to your heart and lungs.
She also palpates, or touches, your abdomen, to ensure the correct organ size and placement. Finally, Toni tests your reflexes and may evaluate your muscle strength.
If necessary, Toni may order lab work and imaging scans or refer you to a specialist to further investigate your health.
Zorumske Family Practice conducts multiple types of physicals, including:
An annual exam is a standard physical to assess your health status year after year. Each year, Toni refers back to your results to identify any concerns or changes to your health.
If your child is enrolling in a new school, they may need a school physical to ensure they’re up to date on their vaccinations, assess their overall health, and meet the school's requirements for enrollment.
A sports physical is a medical assessment that evaluates your overall health and fitness before participating in sports or physical activities.
A Department of Transportation (DOT) physical is mandatory for individuals who operate commercial motor vehicles (CMVs).
